Get-To-Know-WATSONS Media Tea @ Heart Bistro

I attended the Watsons Media Tea session last week. It was an intimate session with the local media (editors from various local magazines) and 2 bloggers (if I'm not wrong), hosted by Watsons Singapore. This tea session was to let us know more about DHC, the No. 1 direct mail skincare company in Japan and about Watson's upcoming plans for DHC brand. Doreen (Watsons) also introduced to Watsons House Brands and various other brands carried under them, eg DHC, Pure Beauty and Avalon Organics.

Watsons National Day Promo + Member Bonus Points

I received an sms from Watsons this afternoon informing me about its National Day Promo held from 06 Aug 2010 - 09 Aug 2010. Customers get 10% off* with min. $45 nett spend at Watsons. And Watsons Cardmembers get additional 45 Bonus Points for every $45 nett spend.

My initial intention was to purchase Mandom Cleansing Express Lotion - Bright Up from John Little today (John Little is having a National Day 25% off storewide). However, the Mandom Cleansing Express series were OOS when I arrived late noon.

Then I decided to visit Watsons store which was just a short distance away for my Mandom Cleansing Express Lotion instead, only to realize that there is a special promotion for its Sebum range. But once again, its OOS. Sianz!

I decided to try luck and visit another Watsons store nearby. Finally! I managed to purchase the final 2 bottles of Mandom Cleansing Lotion - Sebum @ S$14.40 per bottle (usual S$16.90). As I needed to chalk up min S$45.00 to get an additional 10% off, I helped sister purchase her Liese Bubble Hair Color - Casis Berry @ S$17.90 (usual S$19.90 + 20 bonus member point) and also purchased the FruityLite drink @ S$11.90 (usual S$13.90).

Not only did I qualify for the National Day promo, the manager added additional perks by including some freebies for me. The freebies includes; Pure Vita C Dual Booster and mask, Rojukiss Pore Tightening and Himalaya Purifying Neem face wash.

Me - "Window" Shopping Again ???

My intention was to stay at home and laze around. I had watched G.I.Joe late last night. However, I was woken by my neighbour's inconsiderate kids (#*%$*#@) who were screaming at the top of their voices in this morning. So I switched on my laptop and started browsing CozyCot forum and was informed that John Little & Tangs Private Sale (#*%$*#@) starts today! Why didn't I receive their mailer this round???

Since I will be in Marina Square area, so naturally it gives me an excuse to visit Fr3b again. This is my 4th trip to Fr3b since I officially joined on 11th Aug 09.

My 4th Trip to Fr3b
My trip to
Fr3b today is once again rather fruitful this round, though some new items I short-listed is OOS. Here are the items I have grabbed today.
  • ASIENCE Deep Nourish
  • ASIENCE Shine Therapy
  • AVALON Acne Fix
  • AVALON American Ginseng Slice With Honey
  • BRANDS Innershine Prune Essence
  • Lioele Blooming Shimmer Pearl Base
  • La-Roche-Posay Redermic Essence
  • WATSONS Active Firming Stretchable Mask
I was looking actually looking forward to "YUFIT HOT Face Shaper Mask" & "Energins Ginseng Essence" but sad to say, its OOS. Anyway, I managed to get a "Watsons's Active Firming Stretchable Mask" which was newly up on rack today. Gonna give mum this privilege to try this firming mask.
John Little Member Sales
I still enjoy using Dermal Masks which are from Korea and I have been using them for around 3 years. Somehow, I prefer theirs compared to TFS. Dermal Masks are retailing @ SGD1.90 and I usually stock-up when JL had 20% storewide. However, today, JL is selling @SGD$1.00 and per cardmember is only allowed 10pieces max. I did seriously consider asking my mum to help me buy 10pieces too, but decided not to. Reason??? My drawers are over-loaded with masks (various brands), I don't think I can finish them and I believe JL will surely be having promos again in near future. If I did not guess wrongly, JL is facing tough competition on this Dermal Mask because Watsons is also selling them (recently). See the St Ives? JL is giving 30%+20% for its products! Its sure a great time to stock up St Ives products now, trust me.

Watsons Member Bonus Points
I cant helped buy to grab some Formula 10.0.6 mud masks. Its having a 20% + 40 bonus points per pack. The offer is too tempting to give it a miss. I prefer to buy the pack instead of tube as its more hygiene.

Freebie Day !!!

It is not everyday that I get to claim so much samples without paying a single cent. Pls do not brand me as "cheapo" immediately ok? Do read on about how much efforts I have to contribute in exchange for these samples.

My trip to Fr3b (3rd trip)

It has been 2 weeks since I went to
Fr3b as I was too busy to make a trip there specially. I have been reading fellow Fr3b's member blog on the products that they booked out. There were so much products that I was interested yet by the time I reached Fr3b today, it was not available already. Haiz! Can only blame that my arms and legs not quick enough (haha!).

Most of the sample that I have in mind are fully redeemed so once again I am confused what to book out today. Luckily Fr3b store is not crowded and I get to slowly choose my samples today. Remembered that Dear liked the Hex (blue packaging) that I have booked out for him and since Hex (grey packaging) is available, I decided to book 1 tube for dad to trial.

Once again, I took the opportunity to book out mask, this round is Watsons's Bird Nest mask. You might have noticed that I booked out 2 types of shampoos and 1 cleanser. That's because I will be going on a short holiday soon. So its a great excuse to trial them out. Btw, I hate using hotel shampoo & conditioner! They always makes my hair dry and tangles easily. I remembered mentioning that I already have lots of body moisturisers, esp when my Fr3b goodie bag also includes a 400ML Nivea Lotion (old version). But seeing that this newly launched Nivea is about to be OOS, I can't help but to grab 1 bottle.

Lastly, I did not expect Fr3b to even have chips as samples. I grabbed a box to munch tonight (heehee!).

My trip to CozyCot

My next destination is
CozyCot office. I was given a chance to trial this newly launched Liese Bubble Hair Color and review it. Its such an hassle to dye my own hair, and so I am looking forward to using this retail size sample. Meanwhile the remaining are samples that I have booked out using CC points.

More stuffs from Watsons ...

I was quite surprised yet happy to received an sms from Loreal to redeem a birthday gift. I still went after work today to collect my gift. Was informed by the Loreal staff that I need to purchase an item to be member, so as to redeem my gift.
.
Marketing gimick!!!
.
Anyway, I purchased its newly launched "Revitalift Face Contour & Neck" cream and was immediately a member. As for my gift ... its a miserable "Loreal White Perfect Cleanser 50ML". I also bought a "St Ives Firming" clay mask since its having a 20% discount. Worth a try since its highly raved too!

Mentholatum Acnes Bundle Pack

Somehow due to irregular sleeping hours, I kept having some bumps on my face on-and-off. I decided to give "Acnes Sealing Gel" a try since I heard some raves over this Mentholatum Acnes brand, and the $$$ is very affordable.
.
My Kiehl's pimple cream has finished anyway, so its time for me to try new stuffs. In my opinion, I think almost all pimple cream works the same. I dun particularly find Kiehl's pimple cream fantastic.
.
My initial intention was to purchase just the Medicated Sealing Gel @ $8.90 (less 20% - student promo) = $7.12. But I ended up purchasing the bundle (Medicated Sealing Gel + Medicated Creamy Wash) @ $9.90 (less 20%) = $7.95 (Watson's round UP to the nearest dollar).
.
Btw, if you noticed closely, the friendly Watson's cashier gave me 4 packs of the Cure Natural Aqua Gel sample. So sweet of her!

More of Formula 10.0.6 Mud Mask

I must admit, I am tempted by its attractive colorful packaging + the points that Watsons is giving out. I get 20 points for every single Formula 10.0.6 item. So I bought myself another 6 packets, meaning I have in total 9 packs (3 packs each type).
Directions to use;
- To be applied on clean, dry face (avoid eye area).
- Apply for 10-15mins.
- Rinse off with warm water.
.
While I am blogging now, I have applied the "Pores Be Pure" Mud Mask onto my face 5mins ago.
My Review :
Sweet strawberry scent, but very stinging when applied. The stinging lasted about 1 min before it subside.
.
Q : Will I buy again ???
.
A : Most prob

Formula 10.0.6

Finally, can't resist the temptation and bought the Formula 10.0.6 mud mask to trial. They are available in 3 types. Decided to try "Ultra-Cleansing" today.
Directions to use;
- To be applied on clean, dry face (avoid eye area).
- Apply for 10-15mins.
- Rinse off with warm water.
My Review :
Application of this mud mask was relatively fuss-free. Like the fragrance of orange, somehow calms my nerves. Immediate slight stinging sensation which lasted less than 3 seconds. After which I can feel the mask tightening.
.
Q : Will I buy again ???
.
A : Most prob

Review : 1st Fr3b Samples

Beauty Talk Oxy AQUA & Oxy Mask

Ratings : 3/5

I grabbed these products Fr3b as I heard so much raves about them from forums. As the $$$ is rather steep, I would prefer to try before purchase.

Beauty Talk Oxy Mask : I was looking forward to bubbles surfacing on my face as its interesting gimick. I was rather disappointed as I did not feel immediate hydration after using it.

Beauty Talk Oxy Aqua : Its light texture absorbs well into my skin. It is hydrating enough, yet does not become very oily for my skin.

Dentiste Nighttime Toothpaste
Ratings : 4/5

I have always been using Sensodyne as I have very sensitive teeth. Saw it at Watsons but kept contemplating whether to buy or not. I am glad that Fr3b gave me a chance to trial it. Dentiste gives me the clean and refreshing feel after each brush. It did not trigger any teeth sensitivity during my trial period. I am currently using Dentiste(Nite) along with Sensodyne(Day).

Elisha Coy Ice Herb Whitening Water Drop
Ratings : 3/5

I booked this from Fr3b as I like any products that can hydrate my skin. It indeed liked up to its "moisture replenishment" claim. It absorbs easily into my skin, yet not oily as I don't have to blot often. As for whitening, I cant comment as I seriously need to trial it for a long period to see visible results.

Lioele Pore Clean And Tightening Pack

Lioele Power Wrinkle Solution
Ratings : 2/5

I booked this from Fr3b to try as I had this 1 irritating wrinkle on my lower eyelid that is very disturbing everytime I look into the mirror. It is rather hydrating but I was still quite disappointed that it does not show any slight improvement of this sickening wrnkle despite 1 week of usage. I shall continue to use it till I finish my sample. Meanwhile I hope the wrinkle will be less obvious, though I doubt so.

Neutrogena Radiance Sampler Kit
Ratings : 4/5

I loved Neutrogena DWM and is glad that Fr3b is giving it out exclusively for store member.
Cleanser - Feels clean, yet not drying
Toner - Soothing sensation
Mask - I love the mask best. Occassionally, I will experience slight stinging for few seconds. It never fails to hydrates my skin while brightening my skin. Its essence absorbs easily into my skin and does not leave a sticky feeling after removing the mask. Whitening effect is seen after frequent usage.

Ratings : 4/5

I took the opportunity to book out this Watsons "Green Tea" Mask from Fr3b during my 1st trip to its newly opened store. Generous essence in the packet, compared to most masks (eg MBD Masks). I haveso much excess essence which I can apply on my neck, arms and legs. Its thick yet not sticky essence absorbs easily into my skin. My skin feels supple and soft the next morning. It forms a layer of moisturising coat over my skin, which I can easily rinse off the next morning. Somehow, I feel that my makeup seems to stay better after 1 trial.

Watsons's National Day Promotion

I know I have expressed my disappointment in Watsons's price discrepancies a few days ago, and here I am, buying from Watsons again. Well, I must acknowledge that there is no way I can escape from buying stuffs from Watsons. I just have to be more alert about their prices variations.
Watsons is the only store that sells Cure Natural Aqua Gel, besides Isetan Scotts pharmacy. Since with nett $44, I will be entitled 10% discount + bonus 44 points, what would you do if you were me? No choice, just buy lor!
Usual $ : $42.00
Promo $ : $38.00
Discount $ : $34.20
I think it should be the "cheapest" Cure $$$ that we can find in Singapore, unless Watsons have 20% storewide (omg!!!)

Watsons's Pricing Discrepancies ???

So disappointing! I intended to purchase the Formula 10.0.6 (0.35oz) @ $1.95 each pack yesterday. As I forgotten to bring my member card, my intention was to purchase today instead. Was quite happy to read fellow cotters post & also received Watson's sms on the National Day promo, whereby spend $44 nett & get 10% discount + 44 additional points. Wow!
Went down at 8pm to purchase my intended stuffs, but was surprised to see the price tag changed to $2.50 per pack. Thought I saw wrongly, so asked the Watson's staff about the price. She replied that the price was indeed increased to $2.50 today, and $1.95 was the promo price. Below are the the price variations for 2 different outlets, 2 different price, taken on same day.

What is the use of 10% discount? Even after the 10%, it will cost $2.25 compared to yesterday $1.95. I really regretted lusting over the Watson's point yesterday. My initial intention was to buy the trial pack to trial, if my sensitive skin can tolerate, I will purchase the 100ml (so much cheaper, only $9.90). I doubt I will every purchase it, unless they drop price back to $1.95.

Watsons's Member Card

Today, Watsons lauched their lifetime membership card. I was on my way to Kino @ Taka when I saw the banner at Watsons's window display. I thought it was their in-house credit card. Went in to enquire, and realised that it is a lifetime membership card whereby every $5.00 spent = 1 point. Quite miserable, but better than nothing. Online activation gives a bonus 20 points ($1.00), which means the card fee is $4.00. Beside using this card to chalk up points, you can still use POSB everyday card to make payment, which is another ~3% rebate. Not too bad.
